About CARE
It all comes back to a commitment I made to Fawkes before he was even born.
I committed to provide for his needs and give him the best life I possibly could.
When he was about a year old, a friend and I were discussing heart-worm medications. She asked what I used for Fawkes. I told her. Then she asked why I used that one in particular. It struck me instantly that I was wholly unsatisfied with my answer: I don’t know, I suppose because it’s the one someone told me to use and I never bothered to dig any deeper into it.
That interaction sent me on a deep dive that led to many others. At this point I’ve spent literally hundreds of hours researching all manner of dog care related topics trying to uphold those commitments I made to Fawkes. One of the best things we can do as caregivers is continuously ask questions. Keep asking why. Dig deeper, then dig some more. Scroll past all the voices parroting each other’s shallow information. Look at all sides of the subject and make decisions that are as well informed as possible.
Through the products I make, as well as through eventual blog posts, I intend to share some of what I’ve learned as I try to navigate and sift the endless flood of ever changing and conflicting data.
Our products are made of simple and natural ingredients, most of which you can easily make yourself at home. For those of you who are interested in doing so, the recipes and ingredient information can be found in each of the product listings. But for some people the upfront cost of materials, or time investment in production, is prohibitive. In order to offer CARE products at an accessible price point, my profit margin on them is tenuously low. While I do need income to put food in Fawkes’ bowl - my deeper hope beyond financial concern is that these products will encourage and enable others to be intentional and aware of what they are using and why. For our dogs and for ourselves as well.
